Course Information

Enjoy the beautiful Waikato River, Hamilton Gardens and the vibrant CBD all in one course.
The course is suitable for all ages and abilities, and is wheelchair accessible.

Hamilton City Council 12km Fun Run & Walk

The full 12km course starts from Victoria Street in the CBD and runs north along Victoria Street, heading down to the river path at Rostrevor Street and crosses the river at Fairfield Bridge. Runners then follow River Road south, run through the beautiful Hamilton Gardens, and over  Cobham Bridge. The course follows the river back up to the finish line on Victoria Street.

Two prestigious trophies are awarded to first-place finishers: The Allan Bloore & Donald Miller Trophy (male) and The Tinkler Shield (female). Merit prizes are also awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers.

Minimum age is 5 years. All participants between the ages of 5 – 12 must be accompanied for the entire duration of the event by an adult known to them and the accompanying adult takes full responsibility for the safety of the entrant 12 years or under. Participants over the age of 12 can complete the course without an accompanying adult.

Note: All participants with a stroller will be required to start in the pink zone (irrelevant of estimated finish time).
Competitive Runners and Runners will be required to enter their start zone from Victoria Street via Garden Place. All other participants will be required to enter their start zone from Collingwood Street via Alexandra Street.

The Hits 6km Fun Run & Walk

The Hits 6km Fun Run & Walk begins in Garden place, Hamilton CBD. It runs north along Victoria Street, heading down to the river path at Rostrevor Street. After crossing the Fairfield Bridge, the course heads south along River Road, crosses Victoria Bridge and back up Victoria Street to finish back at Garden Place.

Grassroots Trust Kids Challenge

There are two options for the Grassroots Trust Kids Challenge: 1km (for 7 year olds only) and 2km (for 8-13 year olds).

The kids assemble in Collingwood Street for a fun warm up. They are ushered out for a nice and easy run of Victoria Street, starting from Garden Place. The runners head towards the Fairfield Bridge and back along Victoria Street. One loop of this course is the 1km Grassroots Trust Kids Challenge, two loops is the 2km Grassroots Trust Kids Challenge.

Grassroots Trust Kids Challenge Info

Designed for children aged 7 – 13 years, the Grassroots Trust Kids Challenge offers a memorable event experience and is a fantastic vehicle for educating kids about the importance of health, exercise and wellbeing.

The Grassroots Trust Kids Challenge is for kids only. The course is supervised by event staff and is designed to be completely safe for children to participate in on their own. Parents cheering on along the side line, however, is greatly encouraged!

Prizegiving

All kids who complete the Kids Challenge will receive a medal. Prizegiving takes place at 10:35am on the Garden Place Main Stage.


Start Zones & Times


Important Information

Following the event, your finish times will be published online via our timing provider, MyTime. From here, you can view and sort finish times via event category, age group and more. In order to ensure that your recorded finish time is accurate, please ensure that your race bib is properly secured to the front of your chest and that you line up in the correct start zone selected during the online entry process.

Please note that whilst MyTime endeavours to have all finish times published immediately after the event, it can take a few hours for some results to display accurately.


Spark Corporate Team Challenge

The Spark Corporate Team Challenge offers the chance for colleagues to come together and enter a team that represents the workplace. The fastest two male and two female team members’ finish times are combined and measured to find a winning team. This team takes home the Spark Corporate Team Challenge Trophy and bragging rights of being the fastest business in the city and at Lugton’s Round the Bridges!
