Sustainability at Lugtons Round the Bridges
At Lugtons Round the Bridges 2025, we are celebrating 80 years of Running - and looking toward a sustainable future. This year, we’re embarking on a sustainability journey with the team at Nonstop Solutions, proudly supported by Hamilton City Council.
Reusable Cups on Course
For the first time ever, all hydration stations at Lugtons Round the Bridges will use Fillgood reusable cups! Fillgood is Aotearoa’s trusted reuse system, making it easy to ditch single-use waste and keep events running smoothly.
Runners can grab a cup, hydrate, and drop it back - our volunteer teams and the Fillgood crew will collect them for cleaning and reuse. No cups leave the race. No single-use waste ends up in landfill.
It’s that simple: Grab → Hydrate → Drop → Reuse.
Together, we’re saving thousands of single-use cups and proving that Hamilton can run on reuse. Every cup counts and every runner is part of the solution.
Waste Minimisation by Nonstop Solutions
Nonstop Solutions is leading the waste minimisation and management plan for Lugtons Round the Bridges 2025, ensuring that every piece of event waste is handled. They work closely with Fillgood to manage all reusable cups on course, while also hand-sorting recycling and organic materials to maximise diversion from landfill.
This is a significant step forward as we work to reduce the environmental footprint of Lugtons Round the Bridges and care for Papatūānuku. Every runner can focus on the race, confident they are part of a system that is helping us to better look after our environment here in Kirikiriroa.

Why It Matters
Round the Bridges is proving that Hamilton can host large events responsibly. By using Fillgood reusables and hand-sorting all waste with Nonstop Solutions, we’re reducing the event’s environmental footprint, protecting Papatūānuku, and showing that sustainable solutions can work at scale, all while celebrating 80 years of running tradition.
